The Salesforce integration with Google Calendar is Einstein Activity Capture, which comes with Salesforce. Your admin turns it on and sets which way events sync, each rep connects their Google account, and meetings show up on the Salesforce calendar and on related contacts and leads. Lightning Sync, the older tool, isn't offered to new customers and retires in 2027. A Zapier zap is the other way. Where it stops: only each rep's default calendar syncs, changes to meetings more than two days old don't come across, custom fields don't sync, events it can't match wait in an Unresolved Items list, and a sync can take a day or more to start. AI agents tie each meeting to the right deal and follow up.
What a Salesforce integration with Google Calendar has to do
Sales meetings live in Google Calendar, because that's where reps book them. Pipeline lives in Salesforce. If the two don't meet, a manager can't see which deals had a meeting this week, and a rep who leaves takes the meeting history with them.
So the connection has three jobs. It brings each meeting into Salesforce. It ties the meeting to the right contact, lead or deal. And it keeps both calendars right when a meeting moves or is cancelled. Salesforce's own tool does the first job well. The other two still need someone.
Three ways to connect them
The first one comes with Salesforce.
Einstein Activity Capture
- How it works
- Salesforce's own tool for syncing email, events and contacts with Google or Microsoft. It's included with Sales Cloud in Starter, Pro Suite, Professional and Enterprise, and in Unlimited. Your admin sets the sync direction, and synced events become Salesforce records you can report on.
- Good for
- Most Salesforce teams on Google Workspace, from a few reps to many.
- Where it breaks
- Salesforce says it syncs only each rep's default calendar, up to 50 attendees per event, and doesn't sync custom fields or attachments. Changes to events that started two or more days ago don't sync.
A Zapier zap
- How it works
- Zapier's Google Calendar triggers, like New Event or Event Ended, can start Salesforce actions like Create Record or Update Record. A Salesforce trigger like New Record can create a Google Calendar event.
- Good for
- One fixed job, like logging a task in Salesforce when a demo ends.
- Where it breaks
- Each case, like a moved meeting or a new attendee, is a step you build. A zap doesn't match a meeting to the right contact on its own.
Lightning Sync
- How it works
- Salesforce's older sync for Google and Microsoft. It still runs for teams that had it.
- Good for
- Teams that already use it, until they move.
- Where it breaks
- Salesforce says Lightning Sync isn't available to new customers since Winter '21, and retires in 2027. Salesforce offers a migration tool to move to Einstein Activity Capture.
Arkeo agents
- How it works
- Agents read each rep's calendar, match each meeting to the right contact, lead and opportunity in Salesforce, clear the Unresolved Items list, log the next step after the meeting, and flag deals with no meeting booked.
- Good for
- Sales teams where managers need to trust the pipeline, and nobody has the hours to check it.
- Where it breaks
- Anything your rules keep for a person, like a meeting with a new company it can't place, goes to the rep in one message.
How to set up Einstein Activity Capture for Google Calendar
These follow Salesforce's own help pages. Open them for the screens.
- 1
Ask reps to move personal eventsBefore the admin turns sync on, reps put personal events on a separate Google calendar, mark them private, or add addresses to their Excluded Addresses list. Salesforce says only the default calendar syncs.
- 2
Create a configuration with events turned onYour admin creates an Einstein Activity Capture configuration with events enabled, sets the sync direction, and decides whether private events and deleted events sync. Set the filter by end date to control how far back events come in.
- 3
Have each rep connect their Google accountEach rep connects their Google account to Salesforce. Events from that day forward sync in; there's no first push of Salesforce events out to Google.
- 4
Clear Unresolved ItemsEvents Salesforce can't tie to a lead or contact go to the Unresolved Items list in each rep's settings. Ask reps to relate them, or turn on the setting that relates synced events for you.
- 5
Check a week of meetings
Take all reps, not one. Compare a week of meetings in Google Calendar to the events on open opportunities in Salesforce, and note what's missing.
Where the Salesforce Google Calendar integration stops
Einstein Activity Capture moves the meetings. The work in the middle is making them mean something in Salesforce. Events it can't match to a lead or contact sit in each rep's Unresolved Items list until someone relates them, and a meeting tied to a contact is still not tied to the deal you are working.
Some meetings never come across. Teams on Outlook have a different set of rules, covered in the guide to connecting Outlook to Salesforce. Salesforce says it syncs only each rep's default Google calendar, so a team calendar or a second calendar is left out. Events with more than 50 attendees aren't tracked, custom fields don't sync, and if a meeting started two or more days ago, changes to it don't reach Salesforce. A note added the day after a call stays in Google.
Timing and direction cause their own trouble. Salesforce says event sync can take a day or more when many users start at once. When both sides change before a sync, the change in Google wins. Other sales apps warn about duplicates: the help center of one, Weflow, says any setting other than Google to Salesforce will lead to duplicate meetings in the calendar when both run.
Repeating meetings have limits too. If your calls run on Zoom, the guide to connecting Zoom to Salesforce is the place to start. Salesforce says Google event series sync only from Google to Salesforce, and series don't appear on the activity timeline for Google users. So a weekly check-in with a customer can be missing from the account's history, and nobody is told.
The agents that do it
Each agent does one job from start to finish, in your own Salesforce and Google Calendar. Your team talks to them in Slack or Teams.
Your inbox, calendar and documents, kept up for you.

Questions
Is my customers' information safe?
Yes. Agents work in your own Salesforce and Google Calendar and see only the records and calendars their job needs. Customer details never go into public AI. Agents connect to AI through business-grade connections audited under SOC 2.
Does Salesforce sync with Google Calendar?
Yes, through Einstein Activity Capture. Your admin sets whether events sync from Google to Salesforce, from Salesforce to Google, or both ways.
Does Einstein Activity Capture sync shared or secondary Google calendars?
Salesforce says it is designed to sync only each rep's default calendar. Salesforce suggests a separate calendar for personal events for that reason.
Is Lightning Sync still available for Google?
Salesforce says Lightning Sync isn't offered to new customers since Winter '21 and retires in 2027. Teams that have it are asked to move to Einstein Activity Capture.
What does it cost?
You get the price on the call, along with the hours it saves your team.
