The Recharge Klaviyo integration is built by Recharge. You install it from Tools & apps in your Recharge merchant portal and accept the permissions in Klaviyo. Recharge then sends Klaviyo an event for each subscription change, like a new subscription, a cancel, a pause or an upcoming order, plus subscription details on each customer's profile. You build the emails as Klaviyo flows. Where it stops: emails that replace Recharge's have to be set up as transactional through Klaviyo support, a changed email address splits the customer into two profiles, reminders can arrive late or twice, and Klaviyo can count each renewal as revenue from your emails. AI agents do the follow-up and checking.
What the Recharge Klaviyo integration has to do
Recharge runs your subscriptions and charges your customers. Klaviyo sends your store's emails and texts. When the two don't agree, a customer who changed their email still shows as an active subscriber on their old Klaviyo profile, or gets two reminders about the same charge, one from each app.
So connected has to mean two things. Each change to a subscription has to reach Klaviyo fast enough to send the right email. And each customer has to be one profile, with subscription details that match Recharge. The integration sends the events well. Keeping profiles right, and acting on what the events mean, is where the work is left.
Three ways to use Recharge with Klaviyo
All three come from Recharge. The first one is the base for the other two.
Recharge's Klaviyo integration
- How it works
- You install it from Tools & apps, then App marketplace, in Recharge, and accept the permissions in Klaviyo. Recharge fills in subscription details on each Klaviyo profile, then sends events like Subscription started, Subscription cancelled, Subscription paused, Order upcoming and Order placed successfully. Each one can start a Klaviyo flow.
- Good for
- Subscription stores that want their welcome, reminder and win-back emails in Klaviyo, with their own design.
- Where it breaks
- Recharge says stores on the older Klaviyo-built integration must upgrade. Upcoming order events go out between 1 and 4 PM ET, so timing can differ from Recharge's own emails. Klaviyo caps the size of each event, so Recharge sends up to 15 items per upcoming charge and 25 subscriptions per customer.
Recharge flow templates in Klaviyo
- How it works
- Recharge offers ready flow templates in Klaviyo: New Subscriber Welcome, Upcoming Order Reminder and Subscriber Win Back. You add one and edit the content.
- Good for
- Stores that want the three main subscription emails working without building each flow from scratch.
- Where it breaks
- A template is a starting point. If you send the reminder from Klaviyo and leave Recharge's own Upcoming charge email on, Recharge's troubleshooting guide says customers get both.
Quick Actions in Klaviyo emails
- How it works
- Recharge built Quick Actions to work only with its Klaviyo integration. You put a link in an email that lets the customer skip, swap or add a product to their next order in one click.
- Good for
- Stores that want customers to change their next order from the reminder email instead of writing in.
- Where it breaks
- Recharge says Quick Actions are only for stores on its Shopify Checkout Integration.
Arkeo agents
- How it works
- Agents read subscriptions and charges in Recharge, follow up on failed and paused ones the same day, check next week's charges against stock, and check that each subscriber's Klaviyo profile still matches Recharge.
- Good for
- Subscription stores where a failed charge or a wrong reminder turns into a cancel.
- Where it breaks
- Anything your rules keep for a person, like a refund or a custom discount, goes to the owner in one message.
How to set up the Klaviyo Recharge integration
These follow Recharge's own guides. Open them for the screens.
- 1
Install Klaviyo from RechargeIn your Recharge merchant portal, click Tools & apps, then App marketplace. Find Klaviyo, click Get, then Connect now. Log in to Klaviyo and accept the permissions. Recharge then fills in subscription details on your Klaviyo profiles.
- 2
Send a test event to KlaviyoAn event can only start a flow after it has come in once. In Recharge, go to Tools & Apps, then Installed apps, then Klaviyo. Under Send metrics to Klaviyo, select the one you need and click Send metric.
- 3
Build the flow in KlaviyoIn Klaviyo, go to Flows, click Create flow, then Create From Scratch. Set the trigger to the Recharge metric, like Order upcoming on ReCharge, add an email and save.
- 4
Ask Klaviyo to mark the emails as transactionalIf a Klaviyo email replaces one of Recharge's, like the upcoming charge email, contact Klaviyo's support team to set it to Transactional. That way it still reaches customers who unsubscribed from marketing.
- 5
Turn off the matching Recharge emailFor each Klaviyo flow that replaces a Recharge email, turn the Recharge one off: Subscription activation, Subscription cancellation or Upcoming charge. Otherwise both apps send it.
Where the Recharge Klaviyo integration stops
The integration sends Klaviyo what happened. Recharge's own troubleshooting pages show what is left for a person to catch.
A new email address makes a new customer. Recharge's guide says that when a customer changes their email or is deleted, Klaviyo creates a new profile and Recharge can't update the old one. The old profile keeps saying the subscription is active. The fix it gives is to delete the profile or edit the details by hand.
Reminders can come late or twice. If a customer moves the charge to an earlier date, Recharge's example says a reminder set for five days before the charge can arrive two days before. If they add a product or change the date after the reminder, they get another one.
Both apps can email the same customer. Recharge's guide says that if a Klaviyo flow uses a Recharge event and the matching Recharge email is still on, both send.
Renewals count as email revenue. In a Klaviyo Community thread that ran from 2022 into 2023, a store owner said each subscription renewal was credited to an email the customer had opened, and others said the same. Klaviyo's staff said it was not possible to filter those orders out, and the workaround was custom reports.
There is no event for a failed charge. Recharge's list of Klaviyo events covers subscriptions, orders, gifts, bundles and memberships. It does not list a failed charge, and someone still has to see who is about to cancel and call them.

Questions
Is my customers' information safe?
Yes. Agents work in your own Recharge and Klaviyo and see only what their job needs. Customer details never go into public AI. Agents connect to AI through business-grade connections audited under SOC 2.
Does Recharge integrate with Klaviyo?
Yes. Recharge builds its own Klaviyo integration. You install it from Tools & apps in the Recharge merchant portal. It sends subscription events and customer details to Klaviyo for your flows and campaigns.
Why are my customers getting two upcoming order emails?
Either both apps are sending it, or the order changed. Turn off Recharge's Upcoming charge email if Klaviyo sends the reminder. Recharge also sends a new reminder when a customer adds a product or changes the charge date.
Why can't I see the Recharge metric in Klaviyo?
A metric only shows up after the event has happened once since you installed the integration. Use Send metrics to Klaviyo on the Klaviyo page under Installed apps in Recharge to send a test one.
What does it cost?
You get the price on the call, along with the hours it saves your team.
