You make the key in your own Recharge account. Nothing to install on your computers, and nothing to wait for.
Where
In Recharge, go to Tools and apps, then API tokens. Create a token, give it a name, and set each area to no access, read, or read and write.
Who can do it
The store owner. The owner can also give staff access to the API tokens page.

Any Recharge plan. A few tools, like Checkouts, need Recharge Pro or Custom. The agents here don't need them.

Can I turn it off?
Yes. Delete the API token in Recharge and the agents lose access right away.
