Salesforce deals and Teams chats that agree

SalesforceMicrosoft Teams
The short answer

The Salesforce Microsoft Teams integration is Salesforce's own app, Salesforce for Microsoft Teams. You turn it on in Salesforce Setup, your Teams admin adds the app, and each person signs in. Then people can pin Salesforce records to Teams channels, chats and meetings, mention them and edit them without leaving Teams. It needs Sales or Service licenses on Enterprise or higher editions. Where it stops: it shows records in Teams, but it doesn't post new leads or closed deals to a channel on its own, so teams build flows in Power Automate or Zapier, and someone still updates Salesforce after the chat. AI agents post those updates and keep the records current.

What a Salesforce Microsoft Teams integration has to do

Sales and service teams keep customers in Salesforce and talk about them in Teams. When the two don't agree, a rep asks in a channel for the status of a deal that Salesforce already shows as lost, or a new lead waits a day because nobody posted it where the team was looking.

So connected has to mean two things. People in Teams see the right Salesforce record without opening another tab. And the things that matter, like a new lead, a deal that moved or a case that needs help, show up in the right channel without anyone typing them in. Salesforce's app does the first part. The second part takes more work.

Three ways to connect Salesforce with Microsoft Teams

Many teams start with Salesforce's app and add a flow for alerts.

Salesforce for Microsoft Teams

How it works
Salesforce's own app, listed by salesforce.com in Microsoft's marketplace. You turn on the Teams integration in Salesforce Setup, add the app to your Teams tenant from the Teams admin center, and sign in to Salesforce from the app. People can then pin records to channels, chats and meetings, mention them, edit them in Teams and post to the record's Chatter feed.
Good for
Teams on Salesforce Enterprise or higher who talk about deals and cases in Teams and want the record right there.
Where it breaks
It needs Sales or Service licenses on Enterprise or higher editions, and Salesforce Meetings works only on Sales Cloud Unlimited. It brings records into Teams when someone asks for them; it doesn't post alerts to a channel on its own. The listing shows 3.7 stars from 7 ratings.

Power Automate with the Salesforce connector

How it works
Microsoft's Salesforce connector is a Premium connector in Power Automate. Its triggers, When a record is created and When a record is modified, can start a flow that posts to a Teams channel, for example for each new lead.
Good for
Microsoft 365 companies with someone who already builds flows in Power Automate.
Where it breaks
Microsoft's known issues list says Salesforce trial accounts have no API access, the Salesforce setting that locks sessions to an IP address blocks it, and sign-ins can expire when a flow isn't used for a long time. The modified trigger can't see changes to attachments.

A Zapier zap

How it works
Zapier has Salesforce triggers like New Lead, New Record and Updated Field on Record, and Teams actions like Send Channel Message, Send Chat Message and Send Message with Card.
Good for
Small teams that want a few alerts, like closed deals in a sales channel, without Power Automate.
Where it breaks
Each alert is a zap you build and keep up. A message in Teams doesn't change anything in Salesforce, so the record is only as current as the last person who updated it.

Arkeo agents

How it works
Agents read your Salesforce leads, deals and tasks and work in the Teams channels you add them to. They send new leads to the right rep, post deals with no next step, flag renewals coming up, and after a meeting post who owes what and put the tasks in Salesforce.
Good for
Sales and service teams on Teams where updates get lost between the chat and the CRM.
Where it breaks
Anything your rules keep for a person, like a discount or a reply to an unhappy customer, goes to the owner in one message.

How to set up the Salesforce Teams integration

These follow Salesforce's and Microsoft's own pages. Open them for the screens.

  1. 1

    Check your Salesforce edition

Salesforce for Microsoft Teams needs Sales or Service licenses on Enterprise or a higher edition. On a free trial, Salesforce says to contact its support to turn it on.

  2. 2

Turn on the Teams integration in Salesforce

A Salesforce admin goes to Setup in your Salesforce org and turns on the Teams integration.

  3. 3

Have your Teams admin allow the app

In the Teams admin center, your admin opens Teams apps, then Manage apps, finds Salesforce and sets it to Allowed. They can make it available to everyone or to the sales and service groups only.

  4. 4

Sign in and pin your key records

Each person opens the Salesforce app in Teams and signs in to Salesforce. Then pin the deals and cases you talk about most to their channels, so the record sits on a tab.

  5. 5

Add alerts with a flow if you need them

For posts like new leads, build a Power Automate flow that starts with When a record is created. First check API Enabled is on for the user's profile in Salesforce, and that Lock sessions to the IP address from which they originated is off.

  6. 6

    Test one deal

Pin one open deal in a channel, edit a field from Teams, and check the change in Salesforce. If you built a flow, make a test lead and check it posts once, in the right channel.

What the Salesforce Teams integration leaves to your team

Salesforce's own training describes the job. A Trailhead lesson on Microsoft Teams sets up a sales team whose reps create or update leads in Sales Cloud, then message the right Teams channel by hand. Salesforce calls that process "time-consuming and highly error-prone." The fix it teaches is a separate Salesforce product, MuleSoft Composer, built and tested in a sandbox first.

The app brings records in; it doesn't send news out. In Salesforce's Trailblazer Community, a company that runs on Teams wrote that the app lets you mention records and edit them, and "that's really about it." The reply came from someone who built their own app to send alerts like closed deals and urgent cases to Teams. Salesforce's listing in Microsoft's marketplace shows 3.7 stars from 7 ratings.

Flows need care. Microsoft's Salesforce connector page lists known issues: a trial org can't connect, a Salesforce session setting can block the flow, and a sign-in not used for a long time can expire with a "Session expired or invalid" error until someone signs in again. Its When a record is created or modified trigger returns new and changed records together, so the flow has to tell them apart.

Plan limits shape what you get. The app needs Enterprise or higher, and Salesforce Meetings works only on Sales Cloud Unlimited.

And the chat never updates the CRM. What a customer said in a Teams meeting, the next step agreed and who owns it only reach Salesforce if someone types them in.

Questions

Is my customers' information safe?

Yes. Agents work in your own Salesforce and Teams and see only what their job needs. Customer details never go into public AI. Agents connect to AI through business-grade connections audited under SOC 2.

Does Salesforce integrate with Microsoft Teams?

Yes. Salesforce makes an app called Salesforce for Microsoft Teams. It lets people pin, mention and edit Salesforce records in Teams channels, chats and meetings. It needs Sales or Service licenses on Enterprise or higher editions.

Can Salesforce send alerts to a Teams channel?

Not with the app alone. Teams build that with a flow, like Power Automate's Salesforce connector with When a record is created, or a Zapier zap with New Lead and Send Channel Message. Salesforce also teaches it with MuleSoft Composer.

Who has to set it up?

Two admins. A Salesforce admin turns on the Teams integration in Setup, and a Teams admin allows the Salesforce app in the Teams admin center. Then each person signs in to Salesforce from the app.

What does it cost?

You get the price on the call, along with the hours it saves your team.
