The main ClickUp Microsoft Teams integration is ClickUp's own app, which is free on all ClickUp plans. You add it in Teams, connect it in ClickUp's App Center, and then you can make tasks from Teams messages, see task details when someone posts a link, and send ClickUp updates to a channel. Zapier is the other common way. Where it stops: there is no ClickUp tab inside Teams, updates can't go to private channels, and nothing chases the tasks that go quiet. AI agents do that part.
What a ClickUp Microsoft Teams integration has to do
Your team talks in Microsoft Teams. Client asks, files and quick updates all land there, in chats and channels.
The plan, the owners and the due dates live in ClickUp. With no link between them, a client asks for something in a chat, someone says they'll add it, and it never becomes a task.
So a good connection does three things. It turns asks in Teams into ClickUp tasks without copying. It puts the right updates in front of the right people, without flooding a channel. And when a task sits past its date, someone hears about it before the client does. Teams that use Jira with Teams run into the same three needs.
Ways to connect ClickUp and Teams
ClickUp builds the main one. Microsoft's own flow tool has no ClickUp connector.
ClickUp's Microsoft Teams app
- How it works
- ClickUp's own app, free on all ClickUp plans and rated 4.8 out of 5 from about 14,000 ratings in Microsoft's store. You can make a task from a channel or from any message, add a message to a task as a comment, and see a task's status, due date, owners and priority when someone posts its link. With your own connection, you can send updates from a Space, Folder or List to a Teams channel.
- Good for
- Teams that want to turn chat into tasks and see task details without leaving Teams.
- Where it breaks
- A Microsoft admin has to approve ClickUp's access first. Updates go only to public channels you're in, not private ones. ClickUp's guide says the view of ClickUp inside Teams is not supported. Guests and limited members in ClickUp can't use the app at all.
A Zapier zap
- How it works
- Zapier connects ClickUp triggers like New Task, Task Changes and New Comment on a Task with Teams actions like Send Channel Message, Send Chat Message and Send Message with Card.
- Good for
- One rule ClickUp's app doesn't have, like a message to a small group chat when a task changes.
- Where it breaks
- Each rule is a zap you build and test. Some Teams steps need the Zapier app added from the Teams store. On Zapier's Free plan, it checks for new data every 15 minutes.
Arkeo agents
- How it works
- Agents read the asks in Teams and the tasks in ClickUp. They set up the client's project and tasks from what was agreed, post what each person needs to know, check off tasks when the work is done, and message the owner in Teams when a task sits past its date.
- Good for
- Teams where work slips between the chat and the plan, and nobody has the hours to chase it.
- Where it breaks
- Anything your rules keep for a person, like a new due date for a client or closing out a project, goes to your team in one message.
How to set up the ClickUp Teams integration
These follow ClickUp's own guide. Open it for the screens.
- 1
Get a Microsoft admin to approve itClickUp needs a Microsoft admin to approve its access. The easiest way is to have a co-worker who is a Microsoft admin connect Teams in ClickUp's App Center, where they'll see a box to approve it for everyone.
- 2
Add the ClickUp app in TeamsIn Microsoft Teams, click Apps, search for ClickUp and click Add.
- 3
Connect Teams in ClickUpIn ClickUp's App Center, select Microsoft Teams, then the Personal tab. Click Connect, then Allow. A Workspace owner or admin can also add a Workspace connection so everyone can search Teams messages.
- 4
Send ClickUp updates to a channelOn the Personal tab, next to Sync ClickUp Activity to Channels, click Add. Select a Space, Folder or List and a public channel you're in, then the kinds of updates you want. Add the ClickUp app to that channel to start getting them.
- 5
Make a task from a messageIn Teams, hover over a message, click the ... menu, then More actions the first time, and Create Task. Add the details and click Create task. Check it shows up in the right List in ClickUp.
Where the ClickUp Microsoft Teams integration stops
The app puts ClickUp in front of your team. Keeping the tasks moving is still someone's job.
There is no ClickUp tab inside Teams. ClickUp's guide says the view of ClickUp inside Teams is not supported. On ClickUp's feedback board, the Teams integration 2.0 request has about 1,000 votes. The most common ask is a ClickUp list or board as a Teams tab, which people say other project tools already have. ClickUp marked it future in August 2025, and said it wasn't expected within the next two quarters.
Updates are hard to aim. Channel updates are set up under one person's own connection, they go only to public channels that person is in, and a task in more than one List only sends an update if its home List is included. People on the same board ask for updates sent to a small group chat, rules by owner or tag, and fewer separate messages in one channel.
Microsoft's own flow tool can't fill the gap. ClickUp's request for a Power Automate connector has 785 votes and was marked not on the roadmap in August 2025. So each extra rule goes through Zapier or someone's own code.
And none of these chase anything. A task made from a message has an owner and a date, but when the date passes, the app doesn't ask anyone why. Someone still reads the board, finds the late tasks and messages each owner, and copies the answer back.
Teams that also work from Outlook do that twice, once for chat and once for email.
The agents that do it
Each agent does one job from start to finish, in your own ClickUp and Teams, passing the work between them.
New clients start on time, without anyone chasing.
- Writes the kickoff plan from the sales callper client
- Sets up the project and taskssame day
- Chases anything past its promised dateevery day
Nothing goes into ClickUp to die.
- Reads email repliesas they land
- Checks off the task in ClickUpright away
- Flags what's lateevery morning
