To connect Outlook to a SharePoint calendar, open a classic SharePoint calendar, go to the Calendar tab and click Connect to Outlook. That works in classic Outlook for Windows only. Microsoft lists SharePoint calendar sync as not supported in the new Outlook, and a calendar view on a modern SharePoint list doesn't sync with Outlook at all. For a modern team site, Microsoft points you to the Microsoft 365 group calendar, which shows in both Outlooks and on the site. Where it stops: dates kept in SharePoint lists still get copied to the calendar by hand. AI agents do that copying and check that both agree.
What it takes to connect Outlook to a SharePoint calendar
A team site in SharePoint often holds the dates the whole team needs: client deadlines, site visits, filing dates, days off. Most people live in Outlook. When the two don't agree, someone books a client call on the day of a deadline, or a date gets changed on the site and nobody sees it.
So connected has to mean two things. The team's dates show in each person's Outlook, and a change in one place shows in the other. How you get there depends on two things: whether your SharePoint calendar is the classic kind or a modern list, and whether your team is on classic Outlook or the new Outlook.
Ways to connect a SharePoint calendar to Outlook
Start by checking which kind of SharePoint calendar you have and which Outlook your team uses.
Connect to Outlook, from a classic SharePoint calendar
- How it works
- On a classic SharePoint calendar, the Calendar tab has a Connect to Outlook button. Outlook asks if you want to connect the calendar, you click Yes, and it shows next to your own calendar. Microsoft says you can change it in Outlook, even offline, and the changes sync when you connect again.
- Good for
- Teams with an older classic calendar who all use classic Outlook for Windows.
- Where it breaks
- Microsoft's own list of what new Outlook can and can't do marks SharePoint calendar sync and Connect to Outlook as not supported. Microsoft's Q&A forum says it doesn't work in Outlook for Mac, on the web or on phones. Each person connects it on their own computer.
The Microsoft 365 group calendar
- How it works
- A modern team site connected to a Microsoft 365 group comes with a shared group calendar. It shows under Groups in Outlook, and you can put it on the site with the Group calendar web part.
- Good for
- Teams on modern team sites, or on the new Outlook, who want one calendar everyone can see and edit.
- Where it breaks
- It is a separate calendar, not your SharePoint list, so dates kept in lists don't come across on their own. Microsoft says the web part shows up to 10 events and only up to 6 months ahead, and works only on team sites.
A Power Automate flow
- How it works
- Microsoft's SharePoint connector has triggers like When an item is created and When an item is created or modified, and the Office 365 Outlook connector has actions like Create event (V4) and Update event (V4). You build a flow that turns a list item's date into an Outlook event.
- Good for
- Teams that keep dates in a SharePoint list, like client deadlines, and want them on a shared calendar.
- Where it breaks
- Microsoft's notes say Update event (V4) resets any field you leave out, and that a repeat meeting with 15 dates fires a trigger 15 times. When an item is deleted only works for site collection admins. Someone has to build the flow and watch for failed runs.
Arkeo agents
- How it works
- Agents read the dates in your SharePoint lists and your Outlook calendars, add each one to the team calendar, check that the two agree after a change, flag a clash, and remind the owner before a date comes up.
- Good for
- Teams that run deadlines from SharePoint and meetings from Outlook, and have more than a few dates a week to keep right.
- Where it breaks
- Anything your rules keep for a person, like moving a client deadline, goes to the owner in one message.
How to connect a SharePoint calendar to Outlook
These follow Microsoft's own guides. Open them for the screens.
- 1
Check which Outlook your team usesIf your team is on the new Outlook for Windows, Connect to Outlook is not there. Microsoft's feature list marks it as not supported and points to group calendars instead. Skip to the group calendar steps.
- 2
Connect a classic calendar in classic Outlook
Open the SharePoint calendar and select the Calendar tab, then Connect to Outlook. When Outlook asks, select Yes. The calendar shows under Other calendars, next to your own.
- 3
Use the group calendar on a modern team siteIn Outlook, open Calendar and select your group under Groups. To tell the team about an event, add the group to the attendees, since members don't get invites by default.
- 4
Show the group calendar on the SharePoint site
Edit the page, open the toolbox, add the Group calendar web part, open its properties and select your Microsoft 365 group. Set how many events to show, up to 10.
- 5
Turn list dates into Outlook events, if you need itIn Power Automate, start a flow with the SharePoint trigger When an item is created and add the Office 365 Outlook action Create event (V4). Add a second flow for changed items with Update event (V4), and fill in each field.
- 6
Test one change
Change one date in SharePoint and one in Outlook. Then check both places, on a computer and on a phone, to see what came across.
What still has to be done by hand
The classic way is going away from the Outlook most teams are moving to. Microsoft's feature list for the new Outlook for Windows, updated in September 2026, marks both SharePoint calendar sync and Connect to Outlook as not supported. A team that moves to the new Outlook can't use it, and the dates have to go somewhere else.
The modern list calendar doesn't reach Outlook at all. Asked in Microsoft's Q&A forum in May 2026, a Microsoft support moderator wrote that a modern SharePoint list or calendar view does not sync with Outlook. In the same thread, a classic calendar that had been syncing with Outlook stopped, and re-adding it gave an error that needed the IT admin to fix. Other threads there say Connect to Outlook is greyed out on a Mac and missing in Outlook on the web and on phones.
The group calendar is a different calendar. It shows in both Outlooks, but deadlines kept in a SharePoint list don't move into it. Someone copies them over, and copies the change when a date moves. Microsoft's web part for it shows up to 10 events, up to 6 months ahead.
A flow can do the copying, with fine print. Microsoft says Update event (V4) resets fields you leave out, a trigger can fire twice when an invite is accepted, and in rare cases a trigger can take up to an hour. When a run fails, the calendar is wrong until someone sees it.
And none of it checks the dates. Who owns each deadline, which one clashes with a client call, and who needs a reminder the day before all stay with the person who runs the team calendar.
The agents that do it
Each agent does one job from start to finish, in your own SharePoint and Outlook. Your team talks to them in Slack or Teams.

Questions
Is my customers' information safe?
Yes. Agents work in your own SharePoint and Outlook and see only what their job needs. Customer details never go into public AI. Agents connect to AI through business-grade connections audited under SOC 2.
Can I connect a SharePoint calendar to the new Outlook?
Not with Connect to Outlook. Microsoft's feature list marks SharePoint calendar sync as not supported in the new Outlook for Windows, and points to Microsoft 365 group calendars instead. Group calendars work in both the new and classic Outlook.
Why is Connect to Outlook greyed out in SharePoint?
Most often the calendar is a modern list, which doesn't sync with Outlook, or you are on a Mac. Microsoft's Q&A forum says the button needs a classic SharePoint calendar and classic Outlook for Windows.
How do I connect my Outlook calendar to SharePoint?
Use the group calendar. Events you add to your Microsoft 365 group calendar in Outlook show on the site with the Group calendar web part. Your own Outlook calendar doesn't show on a SharePoint page by itself.
What does it cost?
You get the price on the call, along with the hours it saves your team.
