There is no Asana NetSuite integration built by either company, so you connect them through another program. Zapier has NetSuite triggers like New Record (Saved Search) and Asana actions like Create Project From Template, and the reverse. Celigo sells an Asana NetSuite template that moves workspaces, projects and tasks. Where it stops: a NetSuite admin has to set up features, a role and tokens first, saved searches have to be built just right or the Zap fails, each Zap copies one thing one way, and nobody checks that a finished project in Asana was billed in NetSuite. AI agents do that checking.
Why connect Asana and NetSuite
NetSuite is where the order, the customer and the invoice live. Asana is where your team plans and does the work. When a sale closes in NetSuite, someone makes the project in Asana by hand. When the work is done in Asana, someone goes back to NetSuite to update the order or start the invoice.
A good Asana NetSuite integration has to do both halves. It starts the right work in Asana when NetSuite says so, and it tells NetSuite when the work is finished, so nothing is billed late or missed. In Asana's own forum, the question that started the thread on this was exactly that worry: people following the process in Asana and never entering what NetSuite needs.
Three ways to connect Asana to NetSuite
Neither Asana nor NetSuite makes a direct connection to the other. These are the real choices.
Zapier
- How it works
- A Zap starts on a NetSuite trigger, like New Record, New Record (Saved Search) or New Or Updated Record, and runs an Asana action, like Create Project From Template, Create Task or Add Task to Section of Project. Going the other way, an Asana trigger like Completed Task can run NetSuite's Update Record or Create Record.
- Good for
- One clear rule, like a new sales order for a service item starting a project in Asana from your template.
- Where it breaks
- A NetSuite admin has to install the Zapier Automation SuiteApp and set up features and a role first. Zapier's help says a saved search that returns one row per line item makes the trigger fail, and in Zapier's community a saved search returned nothing until the Internal ID column was added.
Celigo's Asana NetSuite template
- How it works
- Celigo's integrator.io has a template that moves tasks and projects between Asana and NetSuite. It comes with three flows: Workspaces, Projects and Tasks. You need a Celigo integrator.io account.
- Good for
- Companies that already use Celigo for their other NetSuite connections. It was the tool people named most in Asana's forum thread on this.
- Where it breaks
- Celigo's page doesn't say which way each flow runs or which fields come across, so you map and test them yourself. It is one more program to set up, pay for and look after.
By hand, with custom fields
- How it works
- Add a custom field in Asana for the NetSuite order or project number, and copy details between the two programs by hand, or with exports, as needed.
- Good for
- A few projects a month, where setting up a connection would take longer than the typing.
- Where it breaks
- It works only as long as someone remembers. Numbers get typed wrong, and a project finished in Asana can sit unbilled in NetSuite for weeks.
Arkeo agents
- How it works
- Agents read new sales orders in NetSuite and set up the project in Asana with the right tasks, owners and dates. When work is done in Asana, they add a note to the NetSuite order and tell finance it is ready to bill. Each week they check both programs agree.
- Good for
- Teams that sell in NetSuite and deliver in Asana, where someone now copies details between the two each day.
- Where it breaks
- Anything your rules keep for a person, like an order with no clear owner or a change to the price, goes to them in one message.
How to connect Asana to NetSuite with Zapier
A NetSuite admin does steps 1 to 3 once. Then anyone can build the Zap. Zapier's guides have the full screens.
- 1
Install the Zapier SuiteApp in NetSuiteA NetSuite admin installs the Zapier Automation SuiteApp from the SuiteApp Marketplace. With it, people connect Zapier using only their NetSuite Account ID.
- 2
Turn on the NetSuite features Zapier needsGo to Setup, then Company, then Enable Features, and open the SuiteCloud tab. Check Client SuiteScript, Server SuiteScript, REST Web Services and Token-Based Authentication, then save.
- 3
Give the user's role the right permissionsThe role needs REST Web Services (Full), User Access Tokens (Full) and SuiteAnalytics Workbook (Edit). Add access to each record the Zap reads or changes, like Sales Order.
- 4
Build a saved search with the Internal IDIn NetSuite, build a saved search for the orders that should start a project, and include the Internal ID column. For transactions, Zapier suggests a Main Line filter set to true, so each order is one row.
- 5
Build the Zap and test it on one orderStart with NetSuite's New Record (Saved Search) trigger, then add Asana's Create Project From Template. Map the customer and order number into the project. Test with one order before you turn it on.
Where the Asana NetSuite integration stops
Each of these can copy something from one program to the other. The work left is in keeping them in agreement after the first copy.
There is no direct connection. In Asana's forum thread on a NetSuite integration, which runs from 2018 to 2024, the answers point to Celigo or to outside firms, and no Asana-built connection comes up. So the connection you build is yours to look after.
Setup sits with the NetSuite admin. Zapier's guide says only administrators can create integration records, and that the keys can't be seen again after you leave the page. Each new kind of record a Zap touches can need more permissions on the role.
Saved searches are easy to get wrong. Zapier's help says a saved search that returns more than one row for the same record, like one row per line item, makes the trigger fail. In a 2024 Zapier community thread, a saved search trigger returned no records at all until the Internal ID was added to its results.
Each Zap copies once, one way. A project made from a sales order doesn't change when the order changes in NetSuite, unless you build a second Zap on New Or Updated Record. Even companies that sell two-way syncs, like Stacksync, say on their own Asana and NetSuite page to confirm the direction for each record, and that duplicates already in your data are not merged for you.
And nobody closes the loop. A task marked done in Asana doesn't mean the order was updated or the invoice went out in NetSuite. Someone still checks finished projects against open orders at month end, and chases the ones that were never billed.
The agents that do it
Each agent does one job from start to finish, in your own Asana and NetSuite: it sets up projects from new orders, catches late work, and finds orders that are falling behind. Your team talks to them in Slack or Teams.
New clients start on day one, not next week.

Questions
Is my customers' information safe?
Yes. Agents work in your own Asana and NetSuite and see only what their job needs. Customer details never go into public AI. Agents connect to AI through business-grade connections audited under SOC 2.
Does Asana integrate with NetSuite?
Not directly. Neither company makes a connection to the other. You connect them through Zapier, which has NetSuite and Asana triggers and actions, or through Celigo, which sells an Asana NetSuite template.
What does a NetSuite admin have to set up for Zapier?
Zapier's guide lists three things: install the Zapier Automation SuiteApp, turn on Client SuiteScript, Server SuiteScript, REST Web Services and Token-Based Authentication, and give the role REST Web Services, User Access Tokens and SuiteAnalytics Workbook permissions.
Can a finished Asana task update NetSuite?
Yes, with a Zap. Asana's Completed Task trigger can run NetSuite's Update Record action. You map which NetSuite record and field to change, and the role needs access to that record.
What does it cost?
You get the price on the call, along with the hours it saves your team.
