You make the key in your own Word account. Nothing to install on your computers, and nothing to wait for.
Where
In the Microsoft Entra admin center. Your Microsoft 365 admin registers an app for your company, gives it access to the Word files it needs in OneDrive or SharePoint, and approves it.
Who can do it
A Microsoft 365 admin.
Plan
A Microsoft 365 business plan. Files must be saved in OneDrive for Business or SharePoint. Turning a file into a PDF works for files up to 2 MB.
Agents can see
- Word files and the text in them
- Which files are in a folder
- Past versions of a file
- Who a file is shared with
Agents can change
- New Word files made from your template
- Updated files, saved as a new version
- PDF copies of finished documents
- New folders and sharing links
Agents can't
- Open files in a personal OneDrive.
- Turn files over 2 MB into a PDF.
- Touch files you didn't give the app access to.
- Get back in after you remove the app in Entra.
