The main Jira and HubSpot integration is HubSpot's own Jira app, which is free and works on all HubSpot plans with Jira Cloud. From a HubSpot ticket, your support team can create a Jira issue or attach one that exists, and comments go both ways. HubSpot also has a Jira (Data Sync) option that maps ticket fields to Jira fields, and apps in the Atlassian Marketplace and Zapier zaps do more. Where it stops: HubSpot says updates can take up to 24 hours, the ticket can't set the issue's owner, priority or status, and nobody is told to write back to the customer when the fix ships. AI agents do that follow up, and flag tickets whose Jira issue stopped moving.
What a Jira and HubSpot integration has to do
Your support team works in HubSpot. Your developers work in Jira. When a customer reports a bug, someone copies it from the ticket into Jira, and later someone has to notice that the issue was closed and write back to the customer. Without a link, that copying and checking is a person's job every week.
So a good connection does three things. It gets the customer's problem into Jira with enough detail for a developer. It shows support where the fix stands, without asking in chat. And it makes sure the customer hears back when the work is done.
Four ways to set up a HubSpot and Jira integration
Most teams start with HubSpot's own app.
HubSpot's Jira app
- How it works
- Made by HubSpot and listed in the HubSpot Marketplace. From the Jira section of a ticket, you create a Jira issue or attach one that exists. The issue shows on the ticket, the contact and the company. Jira comments show on the ticket, and ticket notes and comments can go to Jira. A Create Jira issue workflow action needs a Professional or Enterprise plan.
- Good for
- Support teams on HubSpot who send a few bugs a week to developers on Jira Cloud.
- Where it breaks
- HubSpot says changes can take from one to 24 hours to show, and you can't set the issue's assignee, priority or status from the ticket. Attachments on notes don't go across. The app is rated 2.7 out of 5 from 87 reviews, and the top complaints are fields you can't map and slow updates.
Jira (Data Sync)
- How it works
- A separate HubSpot connection, opened from Connected Apps. It creates and updates tickets and issues in one or both directions, maps ticket stages to Jira statuses, and lets you add your own field mappings. A Super Admin has to opt in to the beta.
- Good for
- Teams who want ticket fields and Jira fields to match without typing them twice.
- Where it breaks
- Ticket status only goes from Jira to HubSpot. Your own field mappings need at least Data Hub Starter. HubSpot warns that without a filter, each new record in one app creates one in the other, so a busy Jira project can fill your help desk.
An Atlassian Marketplace app
- How it works
- Other makers sell HubSpot apps in the Atlassian Marketplace. Getint's HubSpot Integration for Jira says it syncs tickets, comments, statuses, attachments and custom fields both ways. It is paid through Atlassian.
- Good for
- Teams who need attachments and custom fields to go across, and will set up the rules.
- Where it breaks
- You set and keep the mapping yourself, and the listing has only a few reviews.
A Zapier zap
- How it works
- Zapier joins HubSpot triggers like New Ticket to Jira actions like Create Issue and Add Comment to Issue, and Jira's Issue Status Changed back to Update Ticket in HubSpot.
- Good for
- One simple rule, like a Jira issue for each ticket in one pipeline.
- Where it breaks
- Each zap does one thing in one direction, and a failed zap doesn't tell the support rep.
Arkeo agents
- How it works
- Agents read new tickets in HubSpot, open the Jira issue with the customer's words and details, or add the customer to the issue that exists. They watch the issue each day, and when it is done, they tell the support owner and draft the reply to the customer.
- Good for
- Teams where customers wait on fixes, and nobody owns checking Jira for them.
- Where it breaks
- Anything your rules keep for a person, like setting priority or sending the reply, goes to the owner in one message.
How to connect Jira to HubSpot
These follow HubSpot's guides for its Jira app and Jira (Data Sync). Open them for the screens.
- 1
Check what you needYou need a Jira Cloud account. HubSpot says the app won't work with Jira on your own servers. In HubSpot, you need to be a Super Admin or have App Marketplace permissions.
- 2
Install the Jira appClick the Marketplace icon, then HubSpot Marketplace. Search for Jira, click Install, review the permissions and click Accept.
- 3
Create or attach an issue from a ticketOpen a ticket under CRM, then Tickets. In the right panel, find the Jira section and click Associate Jira issue. Search for an issue that exists, or click Create new Jira issue and fill in the project, type, summary and description.
- 4
Turn on comments and the workflow action
Turn on note and comment sync when you attach the issue, so both teams see the thread. On a Professional or Enterprise plan, add the Create Jira issue action to a ticket workflow for tickets that always go to developers.
- 5
For mapped fields, set up Jira (Data Sync)Click the settings icon, then Integrations and Connected Apps. Open Jira (Data Sync), go to CRM syncs and click Sync more data. Set the site, project and issue type, the direction, how ticket stages match Jira statuses, and a filter so only the right records sync. Then click Save and sync.
Where the HubSpot Jira integration stops
The app puts the ticket and the Jira issue side by side. The work in the middle is who moves next, and HubSpot's own guide shows where that is left to people.
It is slow to update. HubSpot says changes between a ticket and an issue can take from one hour up to 24 hours. A rep who looks at the ticket in the afternoon can see a status from the morning, and tell a customer the wrong thing.
Support can't steer the issue. From the ticket you can't set the Jira assignee, priority or status, and you can't edit the Jira fields in HubSpot. Notes sent to Jira show the integration user as the writer, not the rep, and files on notes don't go across. In the app's HubSpot Marketplace reviews, the most common complaints are fields that can't be mapped and slow or missed updates.
The pieces don't stay joined. Uninstalling the app deletes all the links between tickets and issues. With Jira (Data Sync), ticket status only comes from Jira, and HubSpot warns that without a filter, new records in each app create records in the other.
And nobody closes the loop. When a developer marks the issue done, the ticket can show it, but no one is told to write to the customer. Someone still checks Jira for the issues their customers are waiting on.
The agents that do it
Each agent does one job from start to finish, in your own Jira and HubSpot. Your team talks to them in Slack or Teams.
Your developers see what customers asked for, in one place.
- Reads bug reports and requests from supportas they come
- Opens the ticket, or adds to the one that existssame day
- Links the customers who askedper ticket
Customers hear back the day it's fixed.
- Watches for linked tickets marked doneas they close
- Finds the customers who reported itper ticket
- Tells support, and drafts the replysame day
Nothing sits for weeks without someone noticing.
- Checks open tickets for no updateevery day
- Nudges the owner with a commentright away
- Tells your team lead what is still lateevery day
Questions
Is my customers' information safe?
Yes. Agents work in your own Jira and HubSpot and see only the tickets and issues their job needs. Customer details never go into public AI. Agents connect to AI through business-grade connections audited under SOC 2.
Is the HubSpot and Jira integration free?
HubSpot lists its Jira app for all products and plans. The workflow action and reports on Jira fields need a Professional or Enterprise plan, and your own field mappings in Jira (Data Sync) need at least Data Hub Starter.
Does the HubSpot Jira integration work with Jira Server or Data Center?
No. HubSpot says the integration works with Jira Cloud and won't sync with Jira on your own servers.
Can I create a HubSpot ticket from a Jira issue?
Yes, with Jira (Data Sync) set to send issues to HubSpot, or with a Zapier zap. HubSpot's Jira app works the other way, from the ticket to Jira.
What does it cost?
You get the price on the call, along with the hours it saves your team.
