Hiring updates from Workable, followed up in Slack

Slack
The short answer

The Workable Slack integration is Workable's own Slack app, on all Workable plans. A Workable admin adds it once, then each person turns on the alerts they want: new applicants, comments, evaluations and approval requests. People can reply to comments and approve requisitions and offers from Slack. Where it stops: alerts go to each person, not to a shared hiring channel, nobody can set them up for someone else, and one Workable account can use only one Slack workspace. Zapier can post to a channel for a few events. AI agents follow up on hiring requests and late feedback until they are done.

What a Workable Slack integration has to do

Your recruiter works in Workable, your hiring software. Your hiring managers and interviewers mostly live in Slack. When they don't log in to Workable, candidates wait: feedback comes late, offers sit in someone's queue, and the recruiter spends the day sending reminders.

So a good connection does two things. It puts the right hiring news in front of the right person where they already work. And it makes sure the next step happens: the evaluation gets written, the offer gets approved, the candidate hears back.

Two ways to connect Workable and Slack

One is Workable's own app. One is a set of zaps you build yourself.

Workable's Slack integration

How it works
A Workable admin adds it once from Settings, then Integrations, then Apps. Each person then turns on Slack in their own notification settings. Alerts cover new applicants, mentions, comments, evaluations and approval requests, and people can reply to comments and text messages and approve or reject requisitions and offers from Slack.
Good for
Teams where hiring managers want their own alerts and quick approvals without opening Workable.
Where it breaks
Workable says one Workable account can have only one active Slack workspace. Each person sets their own alerts, and nobody can set them for someone else. Alerts only arrive if the person's Workable email matches their Slack email. People who sign offers still have to go to Workable to sign.

A Zapier zap

How it works
Zapier has three Workable triggers: a new candidate, a new disqualified candidate and an updated candidate stage. On the Slack side, it can post a channel message, send a direct message, make a channel or ask for an approval.
Good for
A shared hiring channel that shows each new candidate or stage change for one job.
Where it breaks
Only those three Workable events can start a zap. A late evaluation or an offer waiting for approval can't. Each zap is one more thing to build and keep working.

Arkeo agents

How it works
Agents take hiring requests posted in your Slack channel, turn each one into a task with an owner, and follow up with the hiring manager or interviewer until it's done.
Good for
Growing teams with more open jobs than the recruiter can chase alone.
Where it breaks
Hiring decisions stay with your people. Anything your rules keep for a person, like an offer or a hard reply to a candidate, goes to the owner in one message.

How to set up the Workable Slack integration

These follow Workable's own guide. Open it for the screens.

  1. 1

Clear the app with your Slack owner

If your Slack workspace uses app approval, the workspace owner has to add Workable to the pre-approved apps, or let people ask to install apps.

  2. 2

    Add Slack in Workable

A Workable admin selects the user icon at the top right, then Settings, then Integrations, then Apps. In the Integration with Slack section, select Add to Slack, sign in to Slack and accept the permissions.

  3. 3

Have each person turn on their alerts

Each hiring manager and interviewer opens Your Preferences in Workable, ticks the Slack alerts they want and selects Save changes. Check that their Workable email matches their Slack email.

  4. 4

    Turn on evaluation reminders

Interviewers can get a reminder in Slack to add their evaluation. Workable sends it the next business day at 9 a.m. in their time zone, for people who turn it on in their notification settings.

  5. 5

Add a zap for a shared hiring channel

If the team wants one channel per job, use Zapier with Updated Candidate Stage as the trigger and Send Channel Message as the action.

Where the Workable Slack integration stops

Workable's app is good at telling one person about one thing. The follow-up after the alert is still done by hand.

It works person by person. Workable's guide says each person sets their own Slack alerts, and you can't change them for anyone else. By default, Slack alerts follow each person's email settings. A hiring manager who never turned it on, or whose Workable email doesn't match their Slack email, gets nothing in Slack. The recruiter finds out when the feedback doesn't come.

There is no shared hiring channel in Workable's guide. Workable describes alerts that come to your own Slack account. To post to a channel, teams add Zapier, which has only three Workable triggers: a new candidate, a disqualified candidate and a stage change.

One account, one workspace. A Workable account can have only one active Slack workspace, and a Slack workspace can be active for only one Workable account. A second Workable account needs a different admin to set it up.

Reminders don't chase. Workable puts an evaluation to-do on the interviewer's home page an hour after the interview, and sends a reminder the next business day at 9 a.m. to people who turned it on. Workable's page doesn't say the reminder repeats. After that, getting late feedback is the recruiter's job.

Some steps leave Slack. People who sign offers are sent to Workable to approve and sign, so the offer waits until they log in.

Questions

Is my customers' information safe?

Yes. Agents work in your own Slack and see only what their job needs. Candidate and customer details never go into public AI. Agents connect to AI through business-grade connections audited under SOC 2.

Does Workable integrate with Slack?

Yes. Workable has its own Slack app on all plans. A Workable admin adds it from Settings, then Integrations, then Apps, and each person turns on the alerts they want.

Can Workable post to a Slack channel?

Workable's guide describes alerts sent to each person's own Slack. To post to a shared channel, teams use Zapier with a Workable trigger, like a new candidate or a stage change.

Can I approve offers in Slack?

Yes, unless you sign the offer. Workable lets people approve or reject offer and requisition requests from Slack. People who sign are sent to Workable to approve and sign.

What does it cost?

You get the price on the call, along with the hours it saves your team.
