Billing questions in Zendesk, answered with what's in Stripe

StripeZendesk
The short answer

The Stripe Zendesk integration now comes from Zendesk itself. Since June 2026, Zendesk's action flows have a Stripe connector that can issue refunds, create invoices and search a customer's payments without leaving Zendesk. A Zapier zap is the other way: it can open a Zendesk ticket for each new Stripe dispute or payment. Where it stops: each action flow is a set of steps someone builds, Zendesk connects to one Stripe account only, and Stripe can hold more than one customer for the same email, so a ticket can match the wrong payer. Someone still decides which refund is right and tracks each dispute to its deadline. AI agents do that work.

What a Stripe Zendesk integration has to do

Customers ask about charges in Zendesk: a double charge, a refund that hasn't landed, a card that failed. The answer lives in Stripe. When the two don't talk, a support rep copies the customer's email, opens Stripe in another tab, finds the payment, and pastes what they found back into the reply.

So connected has to mean two things. Your support rep should see the right customer's payments from the ticket, and act on them, like a refund, without a second login. And money events in Stripe that need a person, like a dispute or a failed renewal, should turn into a ticket with what the rep needs to answer it.

Ways to connect Stripe and Zendesk

The first is built by Zendesk. The second turns Stripe events into tickets.

Zendesk action flows with the Stripe connector

How it works
Action flows are steps you build in Zendesk's action builder that run in Zendesk and in other systems. Zendesk's June 23, 2026 announcement added a Stripe connector for refunds, invoice creation, customer payment searches and other billing tasks. A flow starts from an event you set, or from a rep through Copilot's auto assist.
Good for
Support teams on a Zendesk plan with action flows who want refunds and payment lookups done from the ticket.
Where it breaks
Zendesk's guide says you can connect only one instance of each system, so one Stripe account. Each flow can have up to 60 steps, branches allow one condition each, and runs use action credits from your plan. Starting a flow from auto assist needs the Zendesk Copilot add-on.

A Zapier zap

How it works
Zapier's Stripe triggers include New Dispute, New Payment, New Refund and Updated Subscription. A zap can create a Zendesk ticket or add a comment to one. Zapier's own templates include making a ticket for each new Stripe dispute.
Good for
Opening a ticket for each dispute or large payment so it gets an owner.
Where it breaks
Zapier's page says New Refund and New Invoice are polling triggers, which check every 15 minutes on the Free plan. A ticket made by a zap holds what you mapped; it doesn't gather the proof a dispute needs.

Arkeo agents

How it works
Agents read each billing ticket, find the customer in Stripe, check the payments, and draft the reply with the facts. They spot new disputes, gather the proof from your records, and have it ready for your team to submit before the due date. Failed payments get a follow up the same day.
Good for
Teams that answer billing questions all week and lose time between Zendesk and the Stripe Dashboard.
Where it breaks
Anything your rules keep for a person, like a refund over your limit or submitting dispute proof, goes to the owner in one message.

How to set up the Stripe Zendesk integration in action flows

These follow Zendesk's own guides. Open them for the screens.

  1. 1

    Check your plan

Zendesk's guide lists action flows on Suite Team, Growth, Professional, Enterprise and Enterprise Plus, and on Support Team, Professional and Enterprise.

  2. 2

    Open the action builder

In Admin Center, go to the Action flows page and create a new flow. The action builder is the visual editor on that page.

    Connect Stripe

Add a Stripe step and connect your Stripe account. Zendesk's announcement links to its Using Stripe actions in action flows guide for this; you sign in to Zendesk's help center to read it.

  4. 4

Build the flow and test it

Set what starts the flow, then add the Stripe action, like a payment search or a refund, and a Zendesk step that writes the result on the ticket. Run it on a test ticket before your team uses it.

Add a zap for disputes, if you want tickets

To open a ticket for each dispute, start a zap with Stripe New Dispute and add a Zendesk step that creates a ticket.

Where the Stripe Zendesk integration stops

The connector lets your team act on Stripe from Zendesk. Knowing which payment, which customer and what the right answer is still sits with your support team.

The wrong customer can come up. Stripe's support page says it doesn't merge customers, and that duplicates are common when Payment Links, Checkout or other apps make a new customer at each checkout. Search by email and you may get more than one record for the same person, each with part of their history.

Each flow is one you build. Zendesk's guide caps you at 100 flows of up to 60 steps, with one condition per branch, and runs draw on your plan's action credits. Someone has to build the flow for each kind of billing question, and fix it when your Stripe setup changes. Zendesk connects to one Stripe account, so a second business on Stripe needs another way.

Disputes have one shot and a deadline. Stripe's docs say you usually have 7 to 21 days to respond, you lose the dispute if you miss it, and you get only one chance to submit. A zap can open the ticket. Gathering the receipts, emails and delivery proof is still a person's job.

So someone still checks the right customer, decides the refund, and chases each dispute to its due date.

The agents that do it

Each agent does one job from start to finish, in your own Stripe and Zendesk. Your team talks to them in Slack or Teams.

Questions

Is my customers' information safe?

Yes. Agents work in your own Stripe and Zendesk and see only what their job needs. Customer details never go into public AI. Agents connect to AI through business-grade connections audited under SOC 2.

Does Zendesk integrate with Stripe?

Yes. Since June 2026, Zendesk's action flows have a Stripe connector. Zendesk says it handles refunds, invoice creation, customer payment searches and other billing tasks from Zendesk. Action flows come with Zendesk's Team, Growth, Professional and Enterprise plans.

Can I refund a Stripe payment from Zendesk?

Yes, through an action flow with the Stripe connector. Zendesk's announcement lists refunds among the Stripe actions. You build the flow once, then run it from its trigger.

Can Stripe disputes create Zendesk tickets?

Yes, with a zap. Start with Stripe's New Dispute trigger in Zapier and add a Zendesk step that creates a ticket. Stripe's docs say you usually have 7 to 21 days to respond, so set the due date on the ticket.

What does it cost?

You get the price on the call, along with the hours it saves your team.
